What is file sharing?
File sharing gives users the ability to access shared folders with files (word processing documents, pictures, video, folders, or the like). A single file server can share any number of folders.
File sharing offers the files and folders using different types of connections, called “protocols,” and can limit who accesses the shared folder.
You use a computer or device (called a “client”) to connect to the file server.
Before you begin
To complete this tutorial, you need a few things:
A Mac (the server) to run the File Sharing service
At least one client Mac to connect to the shared folder
A hard disk other than your startup disk
The server and the client both on the same local network, just to keep things simple
